Il s’agit de la plus ancienne cité minière subsistant dans le Bassin minier du Pas-de-Calais. Elle constitue une véritable charnière dans l’histoire de l’habitat ouvrier. Elle témoigne en effet de la progressive évolution de l’habitat
ouvrier au XIXe siècle.
